A historical exploration of prominent financial bubbles starting from Tulipmania in 1630 and culminating with Japan in the late 1980s. The author adeptly connects past and future crises to the chapter’s economic landscape. I found it fascinating to discover the frenzy over impressionist paintings in Japan. While I was in Tokyo, I visited the National Museum of Western Art where many of these paintings were acquired during the late 1980s boom. Moreover, as I embark on my career, understanding the human toll that accompanies every financial crisis has been profoundly significant to me. Overall, it was a great read.
